Dueling Views on V-Day

V-Day Coffee

So tomorrow's Valentine's Day. I don't really have too much to say on the subject, but I've been reading a lot of blogging about it lately. The way single people look at it in particular is really fascinating. Here are my top two V-Day related blog posts:

RCR has an interesting perspective, and I really like the way this girl thinks.

Which side of the fence do you fall on?

Mmmm, I like the idea of coffee with heart-shaped steam! I have to go to class, so it will have to be lingerie for this girl. I don't think my classmates would appreciate the other. Well, maybe some would, but no.

I'm pretty firmly in the anti category, but I have to say I picked a good time to take a week off! I've ranted about V-day before and once was enough.

This year, I got myself a present. Why the hell not?

It's silly and commercialized and why do we have to have that ONE day to show the person we care about how we feel. I think it's lame. But if you romantics like it, then have at it. I'll be home watching LOST (and because I want to not because I am a loser)!

6s&7s said it best. I don't really care about it either way...I didn't when I was in a relationship and I don't now that I am single.

LOST is on...Valentine's WHAT?!

I guess I fall *on* the fence b/c I love both ideas! :)

I enjoyed RCR's post and I've enjoyed reading everyone's perspective.
I would have to agree with Kristin because I couldn't tell you the last time I had a honey on V-Day but it's a nice thought.

Lurker coming out of the closet to comment...

I agree with 6s&7s. Why focus on just one day to show someone you care. Does that mean you get to treat them like yesterdays used kleenex the other 364 days of the year?

I'm with Kassy and 6s & 7s. Give me 'LOST,' as well as a bunch of Valentine's written by six, seven, and eight year olds, and it's a great Valentine's Day.

Oh, and chocolate. Can't forget the chocolate.

From the side of someone in a relationship, I have to say that yes it is pointless. BUT, I also don't like the idea of ignoring V day completely.

Call it society's brainwash but roses and a nice dinner and a moonlight walk in the snow are undeniably romantic, no matter the day you decided to celebrate it.
